Lochwinnoch
Lochwinnoch is a village in the council location and historical area of Renfrewshire in the west main Lowlands of Scotland. Resting on the banks of Castle Semple Loch as well as the River Calder, Lochwinnoch is mainly a residential dormitory town offering nearby metropolitan centres such as Glasgow as well as Paisley. Its population in 2001 was 2628. The Community also provides its name to a civil parish of some 50 sq mi (130 km2) of the bordering countryside, including the neighboring town of Howwood. The church boundaries 7 others: Beith, Kilbarchan, Kilbirnie, Kilmacolm, Largs, Neilston and also Paisley. Today, Lochwinnoch primarily functions as a residential village, along with a satellite to the major city of Glasgow. In 1972, a number of buildings in the village were brought within a recently defined Lochwinnoch Conservation Area as a location of special building relevance for planning as well as atmosphere purposes provided by the regional authority. Lochwinnoch Primary School, the only institution in the town, celebrated its centenary in 2005. In 2003 it was the centre of a significant alien big cat discovery scare. Children were maintained inside throughout break times, and an authorities helicopter was generated to search for the pet.
