East Cowes
East Cowes is a community and civil parish to the north of the Isle of Wight, on the eastern bank of the River Medina next to its neighbour on the west financial institution, Cowes. The two communities are attached by the Cowes Drifting Bridge, a chain ferryboat run by the Isle of Wight Council. East Cowes is the site of Norris Castle, as well as Osborne House, the former summer house of Queen Victoria and also Prince Albert. The Prince had a major influence on the style of the location, for instance on the structure of St Mildred's Church in neighboring Whippingham, which includes unique turrets copying those found on a German castle.
