East Cowes
East Cowes is a town as well as civil parish to the north of the Isle of Wight, on the eastern bank of the River Medina next to its neighbor on the west financial institution, Cowes. Both towns are attached by the Cowes Drifting Bridge, a chain ferry run by the Isle of Wight Council. East Cowes is the site of Norris Castle, and also Osborne House, the previous summer residence of Queen Victoria as well as Prince Albert. The Prince had a significant influence on the design of the area, as an example on the building of St Mildred's Church in neighboring Whippingham, which includes unique turrets imitating those found on a German castle.
