Crickhowell is a small town and also area in southeastern Powys, Wales, near Abergavenny, and also was in the historical county of Brecknockshire. The name Crickhowell is drawn from that of the close-by Iron Age hill ft of Crug Hywel over the community, the Welsh language name being anglicised by map-makers and regional English-speaking individuals. The town pushes the River Usk, on the southerly edge of the Black Mountains as well as in the eastern part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Substantial parts of the bordering countryside, over 20,000 acres (81 km2) create part of the Glanusk Park estate. An electoral ward in the exact same name exists. This ward consists of The Vale of Grwyney community and also has an overall population of 2,801 as taken at the 2011 census. The present councillor is John Morris, a Liberal Democrat.
