Kinlochleven
Kinlochleven is a town located in Lochaber, in the Scottish Highlands as well as exists at the eastern end of Loch Leven. To the north exist the Mamores ridge; to the south lie the mountains flanking Glen Coe. The village was developed from 2 formerly separate tiny areas - Kinlochmore to the north of the River Leven in Inverness-shire as well as Kinlochbeg to the south of the Leven in Argyll - following the building and construction of an aluminium smelter and linked housing for its workers. The processing plant was powered by a hydroelectric scheme situated in the hills over, as well as made Kinlochleven the first village worldwide to have actually every home connected to power, coining the phrase "The Electric Village". In 1991, the village (according to yearly census returns) had just over 1000 citizens in some 420 families. Today it is a notable visitor destination and centre for hill searches.
