Isle Of Barra
Barra is an island in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, and the second southernmost inhabited island there, after the nearby island of Vatersay to which it is connected by a brief embankment. The island is called for Saint Finbarr of Cork. In 2011, the population was 1,174. Gaelic is extensively talked, and at the 2011 Census, there were 761 Gaelic speakers (62% of the population). The Isle of Barra is roughly 60 km2 (23 sq mi) in location, 11 miles (18 kilometres) long and also 6 miles (10 kilometres) large. A single-track road, the A888, runs around the shore of the southern part of the island adhering to the flattest land and also offering the many coastal settlements. The inside of the island below is sloping and uninhabited. The west and north of the island has white sandy coastlines consisting of sand created from aquatic coverings adjoining the grassed machair, while the south east side has various rough inlets. To the north a sandy pensinsula runs to the coastline airport terminal and Eoligarry.
