Lydbury North
Lydbury North is a village and a geographically big civil parish in south Shropshire, England.The population of the Civil Parish at the 2011 census was 695. The church is locally called Lydbury as well as there is no settlement called Lydbury South. It lies at grid reference SO352859. It is situated in the south west edge of the region, close to the small towns of Clun as well as Bishop's Castle. The B4385 road goes through the village, as does the Jack Mytton Way. To the west is the village and also parish of Colebatch. There is a part-time post office, area shop, school and also church below. Also there is a public house called the Powis Arms. According to the Institute for Name Studies the name is Old English in derivation and also means 'Stronghold on the * Hlyde (= noisy stream)', maybe a very early name for the River Kemp. The town exists in between 155m and 165m above sea level. Whilst the land to the south is level, to the north it increases considerably. Priors Holt, Priors Holt Hillside and Churchmoor are at the northeastern extremities of the church, the church of which in Lydbury North, St Michael and All Angels, contains a little Catholic church.
