Llanwrtyd Wells
Llanwrtyd Wells is a village and also neighborhood in mid Powys, Wales, in the historical region of Brecknockshire (Breconshire) on the Afon Irfon. The town gets on the A483 in between Llandovery and Builth Wells as well as is located near the pass in between the Tywi and Irfon valleys. The neighborhood also consists of the smaller negotiations of Llanwrtyd and also Abergwesyn, the valley of the Afon Irfon, as well as a huge part of the "Desert of Wales". With a population of 850 (United Kingdom Census 2011), it claims to be the tiniest town in Britain, although Fordwich in Kent has a smaller population. As opposed to its past history as a medical spa town, when hundreds crowded to take the waters for their asserted medical results, the area is currently much better known for leisures such as horse walking, mountain cycling, walking as well as birdwatching, and for its annual Man versus Horse Marathon, Beer Festival and World Bog Snorkeling Championship. The community's biggest employer Charcroft Electronics lies in structures which were previously the Dol-y-Coed Hotel. The resort, on the banks of the Irfon, dates from about 1535.
