Composite Doors in Ivybridge

Do you want to swap your front door? There are plenty of options available to you but none of them quite as well-liked as composite doorways. But why is this type of door the nation’s most-loved and why should you consider this for your own property?

There are many reasons to decide on a composite door. To start with they look fantastic and there is a wide variety of choice in the style and design from which to choose. If you want a modern appeal you'll be able to get precisely that, with contemporary designs to go hand in hand with the times. However, if you want the appeal of traditional front doors, you can also find Victorian, Georgian and Edwardian designs to pick from.

As well as this it is possible to choose a colour that perfectly matches your household. Whether you choose a traditional white or black door, or might desire the bold red, blue or green, the ultimate decision is up to you.

But why don't you consider the composite door’s other features? Along with a strong overall look, you take advantage of excellent insulation and a long lasting, resistant installation. The construction of the door ensures heat is unable to pass thorough and exit your property, decreasing your expensive energy expenses.

Composite doors are produced to resist impacts and the weather too, lasting for decades with practically no maintenance. A GRP (Glass reinforced plastic) skin enables you to protect the front door being sure it continues to look great for countless years to come.

Ivybridge

Ivybridge is a town and civil parish in the South Hams, in Devon, England. It lies about 9 miles (14.5 kilometres) east of Plymouth. It is at the southern extremity of Dartmoor, a National Park of England and Wales and is found along the A38 'Devon Expressway' road. In accordance with the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of around 11851 individuals. Detailed in documents as early as the 13th century, Ivybridge's early history is marked by its status as an essential crossing-point over the River Erme on the Exeter-to-Plymouth route. In the 16th century, mills were constructed making use of the River Erme's power. The parish of Saint John was formed in 1836, with Ivybridge ending up being a civil parish in 1894. It emerged as a town in 1977. The early urbanisation and advancement of Ivybridge primarily accompanied the Industrial Revolution. When the South Devon Railway Company constructed its train route through Ivybridge in the 19th century, a paper mill was constructed together with it, which led to an increase in housing nearby. The paper mill closed in the beginning of the 21st century, after being in operation for over 150 years in the town, and the structures are being transformed to homes and shops. The shopping area is predominantly along Fore Street, with some small shops and eateries located in the Glanvilles Mill shopping centre which is accessible from Fore Street. The shopping centre includes over 35 shops, that includes both regional and national chain stores, as well as eateries and cafés. Although occasionally cited as a dormitory town, countless people work in the town itself, and farming continues to play an economic role for Ivybridge's hinterland. The region surrounding Ivybridge is nearly totally farmland. For all of your home refurbishments, be sure to find reputable contractors in Ivybridge to make certain of quality.

FAQs

how much are composite doors?

Unlike several other complex multi choice products, composite door prices are no great mystery. However, it all depends on your personal preferences as well as your budget. There are a variety of customization options and extras, so you can easily select one that’s unique to your home. Composite doors offer you more colours, more styles, a greater choice of accessories as well as more glazing options. With the availability of a plethora of options in the market, it’s very hard to provide a precise price for a composite door as all the options play a significant role in the price structure.

• The Door’s Quality

Composite doors commonly comes with either a CFC-free insulating polyurethane (PU) foam or a laminated hardwood core. The price to be paid will depend on the quality of the composite with the laminated hardwood core being of more quality and ultimately, more expensive.

• Glazing Options

Between a coloured leaded glass double panel and a clear double-glazed panel there’s a huge price difference. And within these two extremes, there are also many other variables.

• Accessories

There are a world of choices when it comes to accessories in terms of the handle styles, letterplates, knockers and more. All playing a role in the price of the composite door.

• Locking System

A common feature of several composite doors is the multi point locking systems. However, the price, choice and security of the lock cylinder can be hugely different which also play a part in the price of the composite door.

• Location

Your geographical location plays an even more important part when you’re having your door installed. For instance, delivery in certain areas in the UK or finding tradesmen comes at a premium which is also shown in the price.

Can you paint composite doors?

Composite doors have coloured skins rather than a coloured coating on their surface. This means that their colour is long-lasting and they don’t need repainting. If you want to change the colour of your composite door it’s best to ask the manufacturer about the best way to do this. This is because different composite doors are finished in different ways.

what type of lock is on a composite door?

Do you have a composite door and wondering the best type of lock that can be used on your prized asset. To choose the right type of lock for a composite door, it’s of utmost importance to select one that’s designed to work perfectly with the composite configuration. By doing this, you’ll improve the security of your home while also achieving the desired look. To secure a composite door, the most common way is by incorporating a high security multipoint lock. Therefore, depending on the look you want for your door as well as how you want it to function, here are the four types of locks you can consider to go with your composite door.

• Split Spindle Lock

A split spindle lock would be your best bet if you’d like to automatically prevent access to your home from the outside. This lock allows you to open your door smoothly by utilizing the inside handle, however, you’ll need a key to turn the latch bolt to gain access back inside.

• Lever or Lever Lock

If you want an unhindered access in and out of your property, a lever lock gives you this opportunity without the need for a key until it’s totally deadlocked. The lever lock is installed to the back door which makes unauthorized entry even less likely.

• Slam Lock

If you’d prefer a super fast locking, then this lock type is your answer! It automatically triggers the lock hooks immediately you close the door - without having to lift the handle. However, to gain access to the inside of your home or bolt the door from the inside, you’ll need a key.

• Key Wind-Up Lock

This lock is wholly key operated and totally handle-free. Immediately the door is closed, the latch bolt will be automatically activated, ensuring that a key would be needed to gain access back inside.

are upvc or composite doors better?

We’ve all heard the common phrase that first impressions matter most. Well, this expression also applies to your home. When people arrive at your home, the door is the first thing they come in contact with and that speak volumes about the impression they’ll have about you. In modern times, there’s a large variety of choices when it comes to choosing a front door for your home in terms of style and design - from distinctive and alluring wood finish effect to elegant stained glass patterns. These are all important when it comes to choosing a front door, but one of the most significant factors is the material.

Both uPVC and composite doors have their advantages and disadvantages, so choosing one may rest on the purpose of installing the door.

UPVC Doors:

Pros

• Cost - Although composite doors are certain to deliver a great value for money, the initial spending on uPVC is lower and doesn’t put much strain on your budget
