Saxmundham
Saxmundham is a little market town in Suffolk, England, set in the valley of the River Fromus about 18 miles (29 kilometres) north-east of Ipswich and also 5 miles (8.0 kilometres) west of the coast at Sizewell. The community is bypassed by the A12. It is offered by Saxmundham train station on the East Suffolk Line. Saxmundham Town Council comes under the brand-new East Suffolk District. It was previously in Suffolk Coastal District. The area electoral ward also has the name Saxmundham. Its population at the 2011 census was 4,913. The town's name apparently derives from the Old English "Seizmond's Residence". The earliest recorded reference of Saxmundham remains in the Domesday Book of 1086 which states 3 churches. It has had a market charter since at the very least 1272 and also carries on the tradition to now.
