Gorebridge
Gorebridge is a former mining town in Midlothian, Scotland. The town obtains its name from the bridge across the River Gore, a tributary of the South Esk. It was the residence of Scotland's first gunpowder mill, at the Gore Water, that started running in 1794. Gorebridge has a yearly Gala Day which constantly occurs on the 3rd Saturday in June. This is just like a town fair, with flights and games. The gala day has a practice of selecting a Community King and Queen from the primary schools. Gorebridge has 4 primary schools, Gorebridge Primary, Stobhill Primary, St Andrews RC Primary and also Gore Glen Main. Greenhall High school used to offer the town yet closed down in 1994.
