Carpets are a hugely popular selection of flooring, especially in areas of your house where comfort is essential, like living spaces and bedrooms. Carpet designates a kind of flooring where a material is either woven or tufted to a backing cloth. Carpets can be found in a large variety of colours and patterns to complement any design of interior decoration, as well as in a wide variety of different kinds of fibre and piles. A number of the more common types of fibre materials include the synthetic fibres polypropylene and nylon, and the natural fibres wool, sisal, or jute. These types of carpet are commonly available in short or deep pile and can be produced by employing a range of manufacturing methods, such as twist, Saxony, loop pile, Berber, cut and loop, or velvet. Carpets are available in patterned, plain or striped designs. All of the various types of carpet are graded according to their performance and how well they stand up to different amounts of traffic. They are generally rated to be either medium domestic, meaning bedrooms or studies, heavy domestic, specifying living and dining rooms, and very heavy domestic, suited to utility rooms or hallways. It is always recommended to fit carpet with a layer of underlay underneath, as this can increase the look and feel of the carpet, as well as extending its life and offering better sound and thermal insulation.

Aberdaron

Aberdaron is a community at the western tip of the Llyn Peninsula in Wales. It is about 36 miles south west of Caernarfon and it has a population of 965.

The village was the last stop for pilgrims on their way to Bardsey Island, which is the fabled island of 20,000 saints. An old fishing village, the village became a shipbuilding centre and port in the 18th and 19th centuries. Mining and quarrying became the major industries, and the port exported limestone, lead, jasper and manganese. After the Second World War, the mining industry broke down and Aberdaron became a holiday resort. At the west end of the community, there are the ruins of an old pier running out to sea. The beach achieved the Seaside Award in 2008. The coastal waters are part of the Pen Llyn Sarnau Special Area of Conservation, which is one of the biggest marine designated sites in the UK. The village is also a Heritage Coast and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

FAQs

Can I use my old carpet underlay under new flooring?

If you’re replacing your carpet with new carpet, you might be able to use your old underlay. This is dependant on how long the existing carpet has been down for and also the condition of the underlay. But if you’re getting wood, laminate or vinyl flooring it’s not suitable. It will put stress on the joints if you use underlay.

how much to recarpet room?

Adding brand new carpets is one of the quickest ways you can employ to revamp your room and update your home design. Whether you’re looking to inject a new lease of life through a splash of colour or perhaps you simply wish to replace the current worn out or tired looking thread-bare floor, a new carpet can go a long way to have a major impact on how your home feels and looks. At the same time, it can also be a relatively inexpensive way to make a significant change. However, it’s always essential to know the cost before carrying out such a project. In this post, we’re going to consider room recarpeting costs in order to help you make the best informed decision possible moving forward. Let’s take a look!

Generally, carpet are priced per square metre and the cost depends on a number of factors which includes the material as well as the manufacture of the carpet you opt for. On the lower side of the spectrum, you can expect to incur as little as £5 per square metre for a simple and synthetic carpet, while at the other end, a luxurious woolen carpet can cost in excess of £30 per square metre.

While the major and most significant part of the cost would be the price of the material itself, there are however other costs you’ll need to take into account. These costs includes the cost of the underlay which is usually within the range of £5 per square metre to about £15 per square metre, the carpet grippers as well as the cost of labour. Overall, the total cost for a carpet fitting job is normally within the range of £13 per square metre for a simple carpet and installation, and £50 per square metre for a luxurious carpet.

what's the best type of carpet?

With a large variety of carpet types in the market today, it can be incredibly difficult to separate the “the boys from the men. To a great number of home and property owners, what matters is the visual appeal as well as the affordability of the carpet. Once they find one that fits the bill, they simply purchase ignoring the suitability of the carpet for their homes. In several cases, this will often turn out to be disastrous especially when it happens to be a total mismatch. For instance, when you install a carpet that’s not designed to withstand a heavy footfall in a highly busy household or booming business. If you’re looking to get the best possible carpet, then you’ve found the perfect company. In this post, we’re going to consider the best carpet type to help you make informed purchase decisions going forward. Let’s take a look!

Primarily, loop pile and cut pile are the two types that are available in the market today.

  • The loop style pile. Here, the individual ends are linked into the backing to ensure a continuous loop.
  • The cut style pile. For this carpet style, the loops are cut to ensure that each ends are sticking up through the backing - similar to a sheer cut pile.

There are three main types of fibres used today in carpet construction that you should consider. These includes polypropylene, polyester as well as nylon. Furthermore, the most popular choice today when it comes to natural fibre is wool. However, wool’s high price makes it less common and often considered as a luxurious option. For heavy traffic areas, the best carpets are usually loop pile styles to ensure maximum value is derived from your asset. On the other hand, if you want an easy-to-clean carpet, then olefin and polyester should be on the top of your list.

how much to recarpet a house?

Are you looking to renovate your home or property by laying a brand new carpet? Or perhaps your current carpet has started giving indications that it’s well past its glorious days and needs to be replaced. Well, you’ve come to the right place! In this post, we’re going to take a good look at house recarpeting costs.

Generally, carpet fitting costs can be within the range of £5 per square meter to about £30 per square meter. However, when it comes carpet costs itself, a short and accurate answer can’t be provided. This is due to the fact that carpet costs can vary largely based on a number of factors which includes the weaves, the texture, the material incorporated ( such as wool, cotton, polyester, polypropylene and more), the pile depth, the colour as well as the brand. What’s more? You’re probably going to want varying carpet types for different areas of your home. For instance, you should use a more robust material for your stairs than what you’d probably get for your living area.

Overall, if you want a low budget carpet, you should be able to get one anywhere within the range of £5 per square meter to £10 per square meter.  On the other hand, if you have a mid range budget, you can expect to find carpets anywhere within the range of £15 per square meter to £20 per square meter. And finally, if you’re looking for luxurious carpets, the price starts at £30 per square meter.
