Gas Boiler (Repair & Servicing) in Kenley

Seeking a central heating boiler repair or service within Kenley? Our engineers in Kenley are able to give you the best quotes for having a boiler repair or service completed.

Central heating boilers are some of the most crucial areas of any property, providing heating and hot water throughout the year. This means any issues need to be managed ahead of turning into a significant problem.

In the midst of winter it could cost a minimum of £200 simply in call-out costs for an engineer. This is prior to cost of replacement parts.

To protect yourself from spending lots of money, ensure to get your central heating boiler serviced yearly so any issues could be detected as quickly as possible. As well as this, having a service assures that your central heating boiler is performing efficiently, reducing your bills.

The service will also highlight any threat too, like a carbon monoxide leak. Carbon monoxide poisoning accounts for 100s of deaths and hospitalisations each year, so ensure this doesn't happen to you.

We're able to provide as many as four engineers, who'll give quotations for the work. You'll receive a house visit from experts in Kenley who will offer the central heating boiler repair or service for a great price.

Average Boiler repair and service cost in Kenley

The regular cost of a boiler service is around £72, but you could pay anything between £58 and £100. The regular cost of a repair is £182 a time, but it depends on the repair. Kenley

Kenley is a district in the south of the London Borough of Croydon (traditionally in Surrey). Kenley is set 13 miles south of Charing Cross. Significant sections of Kenley lie within the Metropolitan Green Belt. Specifically, the south of Kenley is dominated by the open green spaces of Kenley Common and Kenley Aerodrome. The 2011 census showed Kenley having a population of 14,966. For centuries, Kenley belonged to Coulsdon Manor which covered all of the area and was mostly farm land, with a handful of big homes and their estates. The official opening of the railway on 4 August 1856 completely transformed Kenley. The new railway prompted urban progression. By the end of the Victorian era, Kenley had actually acquired its own identity. Kenley Common constitutes fifty-six hectares of green open space surrounding a previous Battle of Britain airfield. It is a mix of chalk grassland and ancient forest set within carefully rolling hills. Blessed with fine views across the Caterham valley and the North Downs beyond, visitors find it difficult to believe that the centre of London is only 14 miles to the north. Among Kenley's landmark structures is the Memorial Hall. It was opened in 1922 to remember those who gave their lives in World War I. It was subsequently extended and re-opened by Group Captain Douglas Bader in 1975. Hammond Innes' book Attack Alarm was based on his experiences as a Royal Artillery anti-aircraft gunner at RAF Kenley through the Battle of Britain. It contains graphic descriptions of the station and attacks on it in 1940. English Heritage identified Kenley as the "most comprehensive fighter airfield related to the Battle of Britain to have survived". For all of your home developments, make certain to find reputable contractors in Kenley to make certain of quality.

how to fix a broken boiler?

How To Fix A Broken Boiler

To fix any problem when it comes to home appliances, the first step is always to identify the problem while also carrying out thorough checks - a broken boiler is not an exception. Putting enough time and effort in diagnosing a problem can go a lot way to save you both time and money. So here are some of the steps you can take to fix your broken boiler before you put a call out to a licensed engineer.

✓ Check to confirm if your pilot light is on. Whenever you’re facing some issues with your boiler, this should always be the first thing you do. The pilot light being on speak volumes, if the light is off then there’s absolutely no way the flame can start the appliance’s gas supply. You should try to put it back on, if off. To do this, you simply have to follow the detailed instructions on your boiler’s manual strictly. If after following these actions to the letter and the issue remains the same, then you’d probably need the services of an a qualified engineer. Never try to fix the issue on your own.

✓ Check the pressure. The solution to the headaches might sometimes be as simple as examining your appliance’s pressure gauge. Here, the good numbers are around 1.0 or1.5, if it happens to fall below this, then you should open the boiler’s instruction manual. You can also inspect your radiator valves for any leaks. You’d have to call in a specialist to solve the issue.

✓ Check the thermostat. Here, it’s important to note that a faulty thermostat doesn’t necessarily imply a broken boiler. It may just signify that you need to replace your thermostat. Simply check to ensure that your thermostat is turned on and temperature is at the appropriate degree.

how long does a boiler service take?

How Long Does A Boiler Service Take?

Servicing of your boiler is a very crucial activity which does not only help in keeping your heating system in a top condition, but also assists in ensuring the safety of both you and your loved ones. If you carry out a regular boiler service you’ll be able to identify any possible fault your boiler may have on time before it leads to a more serious issue or even a boiler breakdown. As a result, you’ll be able to save yourself some time and money, but more importantly will save you from any dangerous risk that may result from gas leak in a boiler. The best time for a boiler service is in the summer when you’d probably would not really need the system, so you can take advantage of that as well as the possible lower boiler servicing cost during this period.

Before we look into the amount of time a boiler service should take, let’s first consider what should be done during a boiler service.

✓ Visual inspection. This is a check carried out by the heating engineer to ensure your boiler still meet the existing standards and requirements while also looking for any faults.

✓ Removal of boiler casing. There’s the need to ensure everything is working just fine and also to clean the boiler’s interior. These inspections should include the burner, heat exchanger, main injector and spark probe.

✓ Flue check. This involves making sure that there’s no form of obstructions in the flue terminals as also to ensure that the flue is well installed.

✓ Gas pressure check. This involves making sure that the boiler working with the appropriate pressure.

✓ Boiler fired up. This involves checking for any operating issues.

Generally, a boiler service should be completed within 30 minutes, however this time may vary largely depending on the brand and model.

How to repair a boiler leak?

If your boiler is leaking, there are some checks that you can do yourself. However, you should never attempt to repair your boiler yourself – only a Gas Safe-registered engineer should conduct repairs.

There are 3 main reasons why your boiler might be leaking: there’s a pressure valve fault, a temperature valve leak or corrosion in the system. An engineer will be able to spot the problem quickly, but in the meantime there are a few things you can do:

Check the pipe fittings

If your boiler is leaking water around the pipe fittings, it could be an installation fault and you should get in touch with the engineer that fitted it. You can check the pipe fittings by drying the area then waiting to see if the water appears again. If it does, you may be able to do a ¼ turn of the pipe to stop it. However, you should still call the engineer that installed it to ask them to check the PTFE tape on the inside.

Inspect the seals

Over time, the rubber seals on a boiler can start to perish, so if you have an old boiler this could be the source of your leak. If you have a new boiler, it could be caused by your boiler running over pressure.

Heat exchanger corrosion

Unfortunately, if a boiler engineer discovers that the boiler is leaking water from the heat exchanger, this is the end of the road for your system. The heat exchanger is the most expensive part of your boiler, so it makes more financial sense to replace your boiler with a newer, more efficient model rather than try to replace it.
