Gas Boiler (Repair & Servicing) in Hook

Searching for a boiler repair or service within Hook? Our engineers in Hook are able to provide you the ideal prices for having a boiler repair or service carried out.

Boilers are amongst the most important areas of any household, offering heating and hot water throughout the year. This means any issues should be managed before becoming a major issue.

In the middle of winter it could cost a minimum of £200 just in call-out expenses for an engineer. This is ahead of the cost of replacing pieces.

To protect yourself from spending a significant amount of money, make certain to get your boiler serviced yearly so any problems can be discovered as quickly as possible. On top of this, having a service will ensure your central heating boiler is working effectively, cutting your expenses.

The service will even highlight any danger too, like a carbon monoxide leak. Carbon monoxide poisoning is responsible for 100s of deaths and hospitalisations every year, so make sure this doesn't happen to you.

We'll supply you with as many as 4 engineers, who'll offer prices for the work. You'll be given a property visit from professionals in Hook who will provide the boiler repair or service for a excellent price.

Average Boiler repair and service cost in Hook

The regular cost of a boiler service is around £72, but you could pay anything between £58 and £100. The regular cost of a repair is £182 a time, but it depends on the repair. The regular cost of a replacement gas valve or expansion vessel, for example, is £300 each, plus labour of about £50 per hour. National companies may charge more than small local companies since they have more overheads. You’ll also find seasonal differences, as companies charge less in the summer when they are less busy than in the winter when they have lots of work.

Hook

Hook is a small town and civil parish within the Hart district of northern Hampshire, England. It is situated 6.2 miles east of Basingstoke and 36 miles northeast of Southampton and 41 miles northeast of London. Until the 18th century, the town was composed of a scattering of farms. Situated on the main London to Exeter stagecoach route, a turnpike road was built at the end of the 18th century to support the navigation of the Scures Hill. According to the 2011 Census, Hook has a population of 8334 citizens. Although the population of the town remains modest, it has actually seen considerable growth since development in the 1980s. Hook continued to develop with the building of the Holt Park residential district between 2004 and 2006. There is a high level of opulence in Hook, with rural estates such as Tylney Hall Park and Garden, which is Grade II * listed, and Hook Common, which is a sizeable combination of forest and acid heathland. The town has useful and efficient rail links to London Waterloo and Basingstoke, with indirect routes to Reading, Salisbury and Southampton from Hook Railway Station. The development of the railway station in 1883 enabled the growth of the town after railway workers and commuters began to settle in the region. The town is noted for its significant business community, such as the sizeable Bartley Wood Business Park being under a distance of 1 kilometre from the town centre. For all of your home upgrades, make certain to make use of trusted specialists in Hook to make certain of quality.

FAQs

who fixes boilers?

Who Fixes Boilers?

With boiler running for several hours in a day and working hard to ensure that our home stays warm, even when we tend to take it for granted it’s always there give us the heat we need whenever we need it. So in the event whereby the inevitable happens and your boiler breakdown, which professional is the most suitable to call for help? When the pressure is on to stop a boiler leak or bring back warmth to your home, knowing who to call can make all the difference.

When you need a professional to fix your boiler, the right professional to call is a heating engineer. Heating engineers work mainly on heating I both homes and businesses, so you’d be right to call them specialists in all heating matters. As a result of this, you may want to give them a call when experiencing some issues with your boiler as they’d be in the best position than any other professional to give you a proper solution.

Generally, heating engineers are experts when it comes to fixing boilers and can help with various tasks such as installing a new boiler, boiler repairs, installing new gas pipes, repairing gas leaks, changing radiators, fixing leaks, installing heating controls and many more. What’s more? A boiler repair has to do with working with gas and before you can do that you must be a Gas Safe registered engineer as required by the legislations in the UK. In other words, any gas boiler related issue must be tackled by a Gas Safe registered engineer as this is a very dangerous fuel in which the services must be provided to highest standards of safety. Only heating engineers can be a Gas Safe registered engineer to work on gas boilers.

How to repair a boiler leak?

If your boiler is leaking, there are some checks that you can do yourself. However, you should never attempt to repair your boiler yourself – only a Gas Safe-registered engineer should conduct repairs.

There are 3 main reasons why your boiler might be leaking: there’s a pressure valve fault, a temperature valve leak or corrosion in the system. An engineer will be able to spot the problem quickly, but in the meantime there are a few things you can do:

Check the pipe fittings

If your boiler is leaking water around the pipe fittings, it could be an installation fault and you should get in touch with the engineer that fitted it. You can check the pipe fittings by drying the area then waiting to see if the water appears again. If it does, you may be able to do a ¼ turn of the pipe to stop it. However, you should still call the engineer that installed it to ask them to check the PTFE tape on the inside.

Inspect the seals

Over time, the rubber seals on a boiler can start to perish, so if you have an old boiler this could be the source of your leak. If you have a new boiler, it could be caused by your boiler running over pressure.

Heat exchanger corrosion

Unfortunately, if a boiler engineer discovers that the boiler is leaking water from the heat exchanger, this is the end of the road for your system. The heat exchanger is the most expensive part of your boiler, so it makes more financial sense to replace your boiler with a newer, more efficient model rather than try to replace it.

how often to service boiler?

How Often To Service Boiler?

A boiler is a vital part of any home especially if you’re in the UK. Not only does provide your entire household with hot water and keep them warm but also adds a good value to your property. Boiler repairs and replacement are both super expensive and stressful, so in order to avoid all these worries, it’s better to have your boiler serviced on a regular basis for your own peace of mind. When you call in a reliable heating engineer, it can immensely raise your boiler’s efficiency while also saving you from more expensive issues down the road.

So if you haven’t had your boiler serviced for quite some time, moved into a new house and not aware the last time your boiler was serviced or perhaps you’re just wondering how often a boiler should be serviced, then you’ve come to the right place! The short and simple answer to this question is a boiler should should be serviced once in a year, and most preferably during the summer months. However, there are a wide range of factors that comes into play so it’s always advisable to check with your manufacturer before you proceed.

According to the law, you’re required to have your boiler services on an annual basis. Failure to do so can render your boiler or home warranty void. Therefore, it’s very crucial to take down the last time your boiler was serviced and also set a reminder to book your next appointment when the time closes in.

If you happen to own an electric boiler you may not need an annual servicing. But you may still be required to perform it annually by your insurance provider.

Can I repair my own boiler?

No. You must never repair your own boiler – only a Gas Safe-registered engineer can do any work on your boiler. You can do simple DIY tasks to repressurise your boiler or stop a leak, but if you have to remove the outer casing of the boiler or touch the flue then you must get a qualified boiler engineer to take a look at your central heating system.
