East Cowes
East Cowes is a community as well as civil parish to the north of the Isle of Wight, on the eastern bank of the River Medina next to its neighbour on the west financial institution, Cowes. The two towns are attached by the Cowes Drifting Bridge, a chain ferryboat operated by the Isle of Wight Council. East Cowes is the site of Norris Castle, as well as Osborne House, the former summertime house of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The Prince had a major impact on the style of the location, for instance on the structure of St Mildred's Church in nearby Whippingham, which includes distinct turrets copying those found on a German castle.
