Dunmow
Great Dunmow is a historical market town as well as civil parish in the Uttlesford area of Essex, England. It is positioned on the north of the A120 road, around midway in between Bishop's Stortford as well as Braintree, 6 miles east of London Stansted Airport. Initially the site of a Roman settlement on Stane Street, the community flourished during the Middle Ages. Several structures survive from this duration, consisting of a sixteenth-century town hall. Dunmow suggests "Meadow on the Hill". [4] The negotiation was variously referred to as Dunmow Magna, Much Dunmow, or most frequently Great Dunmow. Great Dunmow surrounds the former estate of Easton Lodge in the adjoining parish of Little Easton, a lodge coming from the Maynard family. The most notable member, Frances Maynard, came to be the Countess of Warwick and later a girlfriend of King Edward VII. As the Prince of Wales he was supposedly a regular site visitor to the Estate, taking a trip from London on the train to Easton Lodge train station. The initials "CW" are visible on a number of Victorian era residential or commercial properties in Great Dunmow. Called Daisy Greville, Countess of Warwick she was a generous benefactor in the neighborhood neighborhood. Since 2018, Robert Nicholson is Emeritus Mayor of Great Dunmow.
