Faringdon
Faringdon is a historic market town in the Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire, England. Within the historic borders of Berkshire, it is 18 miles (29 km) south-west of Oxford, 10 miles (16 kilometres) north-west of Wantage and 12 miles (19 km) east-north-east of Swindon. It is a huge church, its lowest parts extending to the River Thames in the north as well as its greatest ground getting to the Ridgeway in the south. Faringdon was the western town in Berkshire until the 1974 border changes moved it to Oxfordshire. The civil church is formally Excellent Faringdon to differentiate it from Little Faringdon in West Oxfordshire. The 2011 Census gave a population of 7,121. On 1 February 2004, Faringdon was given Fairtrade Town status, as the initial Fairtrade Town in South East England. It is the base for Faringdon Enterprise Gateway, which helps as well as advises businesses in country west Oxfordshire.
