Asbestos removing is a vital process in UK structures. For construction purposes asbestos was previously popular in the United Kingdom mostly for its insulating properties. But with associated health risks the Government imposed a ban on its use in 2006.

In spite of this you can still find a huge number of homes with asbestos use within the ceilings and walls. And the consequences of prolonged exposure can be very detrimental for your health, with two types of lung cancer related with asbestos.

If you want to have asbestos removed from your house, a Health and Safety Executive will conduct an assessment to determine if it's present. If this is the case it ought to be a priority to have removed, because if you become clinically determined to have an asbestos related illness it will often be too far gone.

For your own personel safety, make certain to work with our service to assess quotations from specialists in your area. We'll match your requirements with as many as 4 companies so you're able to get a free quote for the work and take the issue from there.

Lauder

The Royal Burgh of Lauder is a town in the Scottish Borders in the historic county of Berwickshire. On the Southern Upland Way, the burgh lies 27 miles south east of Edinburgh, on the western edge of the Lammermuir Hills. The present population of the town is around 1500, although it is quickly growing as over 100 brand-new homes are being constructed on the southern side. This means that, at the beginning of the 21st century, the population is approaching what it was at the start of the 20th century preceding the duration of depopulation over the last 100 years. Lauder is today highly affected by its proximity to Edinburgh as it is now thought to be close enough for employees to commute into the capital for work. The bus service to Edinburgh is efficient though irregular. Popular structures in the town today include the Tolbooth or Town Hall, which predates 1598 when records show it being burnt by a party of Homes and Cranstouns led by Lord Home, in a row in between them and the Lauder family who were at the time sitting on the bench as hereditary baillies. On 18 July 1793, amid a major and lengthy thunderstorm, a 'ball of fire struck the steeple above the Tollbooth, and did considerable damage'. Present controversy in Lauder is the town's growth, whether it is wanted or desirable, the site of a new primary school and how quickly one will be established, and the site and amount of wind farms on the surrounding hills. Additionally on the agenda is the dispute surrounding the creation of a new health centre in the burgh. For all of your home enhancements, make sure to identify credible experts in Lauder to make certain of quality.

    FAQs

how much does it cost to remove asbestos?

If you’re thinking about having your asbestos removed, you have two options - either you take on the project yourself or you call in a reliable professional for help. If you do not have enough time on your plate or perhaps you’re not confident enough to carry out this project on your own, then you’d have to reach out to an expert and of course, it comes with a cost.

The cost of removing asbestos is, however, not fixed as it depends on many factors. These factors works to decrease or increase the cost of removing asbestos. The factors include the type of asbestos material that needs to be removed, if the material can be encapsulated rather than removed, if the material has been sampled and tested, the location where the works would be carried out, size of the area, the accessibility of the asbestos, if other sites users or neighbours will be affected as well as the type of the building be it residential, commercial, industrial.

With a plethora of important things to put into consideration, it’s therefore essential to call in a qualified, competent and professional asbestos removal company to provide a reasonable quote for your unique project. Generally, in the UK, you can expect to pay the approximate cost of around £1000 or less for smaller areas. However, for larger areas the cost of removing such an asbestos will cost you considerably more. The cost can be within the range of £2500 and above in the UK.

These prices may seem high at first but its definitely worth it when you look at it’s possible effect on the health of you and your loved ones.

Should I use a licensed contractor for asbestos removal?

For some types of asbestos, you are not legally required to use a licensed contractor. However, it’s recommended that you always use one. These contractors will have all the relevant training and knowledge to make sure asbestos is removed safely. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the licensing body.

    how to dispose of asbestos?

    How To Dispose Of Asbestos?

As a homeowner, you certainly wouldn’t like to the word “asbestos” and understandably so. Due to its extremely dangerous fibres, the material was banned in the UK since 1999 and any structure built with it will be heavily fined. However, if you’re presently doing some home improvement project or buying a property that was built before the year 2000, then a chance exists that the property could contain asbestos. So if you’re unlucky to discover asbestos in your property, getting rid of it can be quite simple if you know way around it. In this article, we’ll provide you with some tips on how to dispose of asbestos in your property. Let’s take a closer look!

    ✓ Careful Handling

If you happen to find asbestos in your property the best thing to do is to call in a reliable specialist who has the proper training and equipment to tackle the project. However, if you decide to handle it yourself, then it’s a must to do this with great care. For instance wearing safety gloves, dust mask, safety goggles and placement of asbestos into plastic bags would be a great idea.

✓ Take It To The Tip By Yourself

To save some money if you have access to a vehicle, then loading the bagged asbestos into your car and driving it to the nearest local tip would be a simple and cost effective alternative. However, you should check with your local authorities before attempting this.

    ✓ Use A Specialist

Hiring a professional asbestos removal contractor is simply the best way to dispose of asbestos. Their services may be a bit expensive, but they cover up for that in both speed and effectiveness.

✓ Use Your Council’s Asbestos Collection Service

Several councils off this services at a reduced cost. However, they are usually not as quick as a specialist contractor.

    can i remove asbestos myself?

    Can I Remove Asbestos Myself?

If you’re an individual who owns or control buildings, you’re required by the law to carry out asbestos management and reasonably so. Asbestos is a very dangerous and life threatening material which comes with a host of potential diseases related to exposure and therefore, it’s required to be removed from any building once discovered.

Majority of these diseases are not treated and in the UK alone, there has been about 4,500 deaths per year that has been attributable to asbestos exposure. Hence, this explains why this topic is considered crucial to the legislators.

When it comes to asbestos containing materials removal, this should only be done if necessary and ultimately, only by a person who possesses the skills, knowledge and expertise to make sure that the removal is done safely and to the highest possible standards. Exposure to asbestos poses great health risks. And although when left alone the material can only cause little harm, but the real threat comes when disturbed which implies that asbestos removal is a gravely dangerous process if not handle with skill and care.

Due to this fact, the law has taken a very serious stance that only skilled specialist are allowed to handle the task. Therefore, if you want to know if you can undertake this task by yourself, it’s important to consult your local authority to know the stance of the law in your state. We’d however recommend that you do not attempt this by yourself as the dangers are simply too much. The cost of asbestos containing materials removal can be somewhat costly, but when you look at the threat it poses to both you and your loved ones, you’d realize that it’s worth the price.
