Burnham-on-sea

Burnham-on-Sea is a town in Somerset, positioned around the mouth of the River Parrett and Bridgewater Bay. Prior to the eighteenth century, Burnham was a tiny fishing village. Its expansion began when it became a popular seaside resort throughout the Victorian time, at a time when seaside holidays were extremely popular. It's part of the parish of Burnham-on-Sea and Heybridge, and it shares a town council with Highbridge, a nearby market town. At the time of the 2011 Census, the population of the town was about 20,000. Due to the town's positioning on the border of the Somerset Levels and moors where they meet the Bristol Channel, Burnham's history is dominated by land reclamation and sea defences since the Roman era. Due to the town's position close to the mouth of the River Parrett, there's a high threat to ships in the region. Lighthouses are, as a result, substantial landmarks near the town, with the original lighthouse, the Round Tower, built to take over from the light on the top of the fourteenth century town of St. Andrews Church used to lower the amount of shipwrecks. The High Lighthouse is 34 metres tall, and 1 lighthouse is referred to as 'Lighthouse on Legs'. The construction of a stone pier was completed in 1858 by the Somerset Central Railway. Soon after its establishment in 1860, a steam service to Wales started, though it was not a commercial success. A second steamer service, concrete pier, completed after three years of work in 1914, is referred to as the shortest pier in Britain. Despite its compact size, the pier was shortlisted as being on the list of best five piers in Britain. For all of your property improvement tasks, be certain that you use vetted specialists in Burnham-on-Sea to ensure you get a good quality service .

    FAQs

    What is asbestos?

Asbestos refers to a group of minerals made up of tiny fibres. If you become exposed to these fibres and breathe them in, you’re at risk of contracting a dangerous lung-related disease.

Asbestos is strong and a good insulator, which means it was previously used to insulate and reinforce parts of buildings, like ceilings, roofs and guttering. Its use has been banned in the UK since 2000, but it is still present in lots of domestic and commercial buildings today.

Asbestos usually only poses a health risk if the material it’s contained in is damaged and its fibres are released into the air.

How Much To Remove Asbestos Garage Roof?

Asbestos is a hazardous material that was commonly used before the 1990’s as a popular material for both insulation and construction. Due to the oversight form authoritative boards, this harmful material was not identified as such during the time it was being incorporated. Ever since this period, many studies are now on ground to prove that asbestos fibres can lead to several health conditions like lung cancer and mesothelioma. Hence, the need to have it removed as soon as possible if discovered in your house because the longer your exposure to the dangerous asbestos fibres, the more harmful it becomes. Due to the danger involved, asbestos removal is strongly recommended to be carried out by a seasoned specialist.

The cost of asbestos garage roof removal is based on a plethora of influencing factors such as the size of the garage, the accessibility, the location of the garage, if the material is damaged, if the fixing is to the timber or steel supporting structures as well as other factors like boundary disputes or neighbouring properties. As a result, when hiring a specialist, it is vital for the asbestos removal professional to fully understand the works required as well as its various unique features prior to visiting the site. This is due to the fact that the more the information they are given, the easier it becomes to come up with a reasonable price for the asbestos removal project.

Can I remove asbestos from my own house?

In some situations, it is possible to remove asbestos from your home without holding a licence. However, unless you’ve had training on working with asbestos, it’s not a good idea to do the work yourself. In these cases, you’ll need to make sure you wear complete protective clothing, including a face mask and overalls, and disturb the material as little as possible. You’ll also need to find out the best place to dispose of your asbestos here [https://www.gov.uk/asbestos-in-home], and get rid of your protective clothing in the same place.

However, in many cases you’ll need a licence to do an asbestos removal job, so will need to call in a professional. This is also almost always the safest way to remove your asbestos too, so is generally the best option to go for.

    Should asbestos be removed?

If you find out there’s asbestos in your property, it’s not always necessary to remove it. Asbestos is relatively low-risk if it’s contained in a material. This means that, if the material it’s in is in good condition, it shouldn’t be a problem.

However, if a material containing asbestos is damaged, or you want to remove, sand or drill into it, it’s best to have it removed by a licensed professional.
