Yarm is a village in North Yorkshire, England. The community is on the south financial institution of the River Tees and is traditionally part of the North Riding of Yorkshire. The bridge at Yarm marked the furthest reach of tidal circulation up the River Tees till the opening, in 1995, of the Tees Barrage, which currently manages river circulation above Stockton. As the last bridge on the river prior to the sea, it was superseded by a new toll bridge opened up in Stockton in 1771. The earliest part of the community, around the High Street, is located in a loophole of the river, and also the more recent parts of the town reach the factor where the River Leven fulfills the River Tees. The community is controlled as part of the District of Stockton-on-Tees.
