Fencing in Minehead

Looking for wooden fencing installers in Minehead? Our wood fence contractors in Minehead can provide you with the ideal quotes to have wood fencing installed.

Fencing is needed for both domestic and industrial buildings for a number of reasons. It works as a border for back gardens and private land, becoming a measure of privacy or to keep people and pets in or out.

Benefits of wood fencing include added house protection and visual appeal. With a fence in position, it becomes tougher for burglars to get into your house and garden. Make certain to select a design that will look good too, especially if for house purposes.

We can provide you with as many as 4 wooden fencing contractors close to you, who'll provide quotations for the work you would like completed. You'll receive a household visit from specialists in Minehead who'll allow you to choose the right style for your property prior to finishing the installation.

The fitting of a wood fence takes less than one day to undertake, based on the size of area you'd like guarded.

Minehead

Minehead is a coastal town and civil parish in the English county of Somerset. It sits on the south shore of the Bristol Channel, approximately 21 miles (34 kilometres) north-west of the county town of Taunton, 12 miles (19 kilometres) from the border with the county of Devon and in proximity of the Exmoor National Park. According to the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of around 11981, meaning that it is the most populous town in the West Somerset local government district. There is evidence of human occupation in the area since the Bronze and Iron Ages. There was a small port at Minehead by 1380, which turned into a main trading centre through the medieval period. A lot of trade moved to more substantial ports during the course of the 20th century, however pleasure steamers did call at the port. A marked increase in construction during the early years of the 20th century led to the wide main shopping avenue and surrounding streets with Edwardian-style architecture. There are a wide array of schools and religious, cultural and sporting facilities consisting of sailing and wind surfing and golf. A popular ancient local tradition involves the Hobby Horse, which takes to the streets for four days on the eve of the first of May each year, with accompanying entertainers and rival horses. The town is the starting point of the South West Coast Path National Trail, which is the nation's longest long-distance countryside walking trail. The Minehead Railway was opened in 1874 and closed in 1971, but it has actually subsequently been reopened as the West Somerset Railway. For all of your home renovations, make certain to find trustworthy professionals in Minehead to make certain of quality.

    FAQs

What is the cheapest fence to install?

The cheapest fence to install is, generally, a pressure-treated pine wooden fence at around £20 per linear foot. This includes the materials and labour costs. Wire fencing is technically cheaper at around £5 per foot, but it’s not a great material to use in homes as it looks unsightly and doesn’t provide any privacy.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
How to tell which fence is yours?

If there’s a fence dividing yours and your neighbour’s properties that needs maintaining or replacing, you’ll want to know who owns it. Start by checking your deeds to see if there’s an existing boundary agreement. If there isn’t, have a chat with them to see if you can come to an arrangement yourselves.

Fence ownership: who owns that garden fence?

When it comes to fence ownership and responsibility, this is often a subject of dispute between neighbours and understandably so. Owning a fence comes with a number of responsibilities such as arranging and paying for the maintenance and more. Therefore, if you’re not yet sure who owns the garden fence, then you’d probably want to have that sorted to make sure your property stays protected at all times. In this post, we’re going to give you an insight into some of the rules guiding fence ownership in order to help you make informed decisions. Let’s take a look!

There’s no rule of thumb on whether you own the fence on the right hand or the left hand side of your property. Therefore, if you’ve heard any “rules that states otherwise, you can fling that out the window because not everyone will own the left hand side to their fence. The first way to determine who owns the garden fence or which side of the fence you’re responsible for is simply by looking. Although this is not guaranteed or a definite way to determine ownership, it can go a long way to give you a good idea. As you would have expected, fences are most likely built on the land that belongs to the boundary’s owner with the further edge of the fence making the actual boundary. As a result, you can determine a fence ownership simply by identifying where the frames are.

Also, you can determine fence ownership using the title deeds for an official and accurate answer. A copy should be given alongside your paperwork which is received when purchasing your house.
