Fencing in Hindhead

Looking for wood fence fitters in Hindhead? Our wooden fencing fitters in Hindhead are going to give you the ideal quotes for having wooden fencing installed.

Fencing is essential both for domestic and commercial properties for numerous reasons. It provides a boundary for back gardens and private land, acting as a measure of privacy or to keep people and pets in or out.

Features of wooden fencing include added home protection and visual appeal. By having a fence in position, it will become tougher for criminals to gain access to your home and garden. Be certain to pick out a design that will look good too, especially if for property purposes.

We will provide you with up to 4 wooden fencing contractors in your area, who will give quotations for the work you want completed. You'll be given a home visit from experts in Hindhead who will allow you to select the right style for your home prior to completing the installation.

The fitting of a wood fence takes less than one day to complete, depending upon the size of area you'd like protected.

Average Wooden fencing cost in Hindhead

The regular cost of a new or replacement fence is approximately £20-£45 per foot, not including removing your existing fence which could cost an extra £5-10 per foot. Hindhead

Hindhead is a village in Surrey, England. It is the greatest village in Surrey, with buildings at between 185 and 253 metres over sea level. It is best called the location of the Devil's Punch Bowl, a beauty spot and site of special scientific interest, and as the site of the Hindhead crossroads, a previously infamous blockage spot, where the A3 in between Portsmouth and also London was crossed by the A287 in between Hook as well as Haslemere. The A3 currently passes under Hindhead in the Hindhead Tunnel and also its course along the Punch Bowl has been gotten rid of and also landscaped, yet the crossroads still exists for local website traffic. Hindhead is centred 10.5 miles (16.9 kilometres) south-west of Guildford, the county town of Surrey, on the border with the area of Hampshire. It is a ward within the area of Waverley, as well as forms part of the civil parish of Haslemere. The ward, that includes Beacon Hill, had a population of 3,874 at the 2001 census, boosting to a population of 4,292 at the 2011 Census. The place-name "Hindhead" is first proved in 1571, and also implies "hillside frequented by hinds", or female deer.

    FAQs

Fence ownership: who owns that garden fence?

When it comes to fence ownership and responsibility, this is often a subject of dispute between neighbours and understandably so. Owning a fence comes with a number of responsibilities such as arranging and paying for the maintenance and more. Therefore, if you’re not yet sure who owns the garden fence, then you’d probably want to have that sorted to make sure your property stays protected at all times. In this post, we’re going to give you an insight into some of the rules guiding fence ownership in order to help you make informed decisions. Let’s take a look!

There’s no rule of thumb on whether you own the fence on the right hand or the left hand side of your property. Therefore, if you’ve heard any “rules that states otherwise, you can fling that out the window because not everyone will own the left hand side to their fence. The first way to determine who owns the garden fence or which side of the fence you’re responsible for is simply by looking. Although this is not guaranteed or a definite way to determine ownership, it can go a long way to give you a good idea. As you would have expected, fences are most likely built on the land that belongs to the boundary’s owner with the further edge of the fence making the actual boundary. As a result, you can determine a fence ownership simply by identifying where the frames are.

Also, you can determine fence ownership using the title deeds for an official and accurate answer. A copy should be given alongside your paperwork which is received when purchasing your house.

    How to build a fence?

The best way to build a fence depends on what style it is, as different types have different components. However, fencing made up of posts and panels is pretty common. To put this up, you’ll need to start by measuring out and digging holes for your fence posts. Then you’ll need to fit the panels between them and use concrete to secure the posts in the ground.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
Do I need planning permission for fences?

Not if they are under 1 metre high if next to a road or 2 metres high elsewhere. It’s always recommended to check with your neighbours and the local authority if you are unsure. Other restrictions may apply, for example if a fence might impact driver visibility on nearby roads.
