Fencing in Edenbridge

Are you considering getting fencing installed in Edenbridge? With the Quotatis service you are able to compare and contrast up to 4 fence companies in order to get the best deal available for the task you need.

Fencing is important for all houses whether it's the front or back garden. From repair work to a total installation of new fencing, working with a respected company is highly advised to get the very best price available.

Fencing act as a boundary to our homes and with an installation you'll add security to your property and prevent easy access to your back garden. Back garden fences are typically close to six feet high, which instantly makes it tougher for intruders to gain entry.

Decorative fencing or wooden picket fencing tend to be most appropriate for the front garden, where security isn't as important. Instead, you're more likely to choose a front garden fence particularly for decoration and also to add something different.

For whatever type of fencing you're wanting to have installed, ensure that you use our totally free and no obligation service to get the best deal available in Edenbridge.

Edenbridge

Edenbridge is a community and civil parish in the Sevenoaks district of Kent, England. Its name derives from Old English Eadhelmsbrigge (meaning "Eadhelm's Bridge"). It lies on the Kent/ Surrey border on the upper floodplain of the River Medway and also gives its name to the latter's tributary, the River Eden. The community has a population of around 9,000. Edenbridge is twinned with Mont-Saint-Aignan in France. The bypass that was constructed in the very early 2000s to relieve web traffic pressure on the old, slim High Street is called Mont St Aignan Way. There are two banks in the town, a post office beside the church and also a number of major retail chains. Despite being a fairly small town, Edenbridge boasts its very own medical facility - The Edenbridge War Memorial Hospital. At first a cottage health center built to take care of soldiers returning from The First World War, an objective built building was developed to the south of the community in 1931. With an Out Patients Department, Physical rehabilitation centers as well as a Minor Injuries Unit the hospital is a huge part of the material of the community. Recently the health center has been confronted with closure sometimes, on each occasion it has been saved by neighborhood advocates and also townspeople, who see the hospital as an important part of the area.

    FAQs

How to tell which fence is yours?

If there’s a fence dividing yours and your neighbour’s properties that needs maintaining or replacing, you’ll want to know who owns it. Start by checking your deeds to see if there’s an existing boundary agreement. If there isn’t, have a chat with them to see if you can come to an arrangement yourselves.

What do I need to do to maintain my fence?

Properly erected fences shouldn’t require a great deal of maintenance. Any rotting boards can usually be replaced without replacing the whole panel. Timber fencing should be stained every 2-3 years. General maintenance is something you can carry out yourself, however, larger works may need a qualified professional to come in.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
Can I attach something to my neighbour’s fence?

There are a number of reasons why disputes can arise between neighbours – all of which can be quite frustrating and challenging. In some cases, this can even cause serious friction and lead to an all-out war. When it comes to the topic of fencing, one of the most common questions that arises is whether or not you can attach something to your neighbour’s fence. If you’re having the same concern, then you’ve come to the right place. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into this to help you make informed decisions moving forward. Let’s take a look!

The short and simple answer to this question is no, you can’t attach anything to your neighbour’s fence. If your neighbour owns the fence and you’ve not obtained any permission to do so, then you’re not allowed to attach anything to the fence. Otherwise, you can get into serious trouble with your neighbour as well as the law. If you want to attach something or have the wall on your side painted using another colour, then there’s the need to get a permission from the owner. And while doing so, make sure you’re provided with a written permission so as to avoid problems later in the future.

Another question that mostly arises is what if your neighbour declines your request, is there anything you can do about it? Well, the answer to this is no, there’s nothing you can do about it unless you’re able to convince your neighbour otherwise. And you should know starting a neighbour war or being spiteful can only make matters worse for you.
