Fencing in Dunbeath

Seeking wooden fencing contractors in Dunbeath? Our wood fence fitters in Dunbeath are going to give you the best quotes to have wood fencing installed.

Fencing is needed both for domestic and commercial buildings for many different reasons. It provides a boundary for home gardens and private land, becoming a measure of privacy or to keep people and pets in or out.

Perks of wood fencing include further home security and visual appeal. By having a fence in place, it will become tougher for burglars to reach your home and garden. Ensure to choose a design which will look great too, especially if for home reasons.

We can give you up to 4 wood fencing contractors locally, who will offer quotes for the work you want done. You'll be given a home visit from experts in Dunbeath who'll allow you to decide on the right style for your house prior to completing the installation.

The fitting of a wood fence will take less than one day to carry out, based on the size of area you'd like secured.

Dunbeath

Dunbeath is a town in south-east Caithness, Scotland on the A9 road. It was the birth place of Neil M. Gunn (1891-1973), writer of The Silver Darlings, Highland River etc., a number of whose novels are embeded in Dunbeath and also its Strath. Dunbeath has a really abundant archaeological landscape, the website of many Iron Age brochs and also a very early middle ages monastic site (see Alex Morrison's archaeological study, "Dunbeath: A Cultural Landscape".) Of Dunbeath's landscape, Gunn created: "These small straths, like the Strath of Dunbeath, have this intimate appeal. In boyhood we get to know every square yard of it. We encompass it literally and our memories hold it. Birches, hazel trees for nutting, pools with trout and an occasionally visible salmon, river-flats with the wind on the bracken and also disappearing bunny scuts, a wealth of wild blossom and tiny bird life, the rising hawk, the unanticipated roe, the ancient graveyard, thoughts of the people who once lived much inland in straths and also hollows, the past as well as today held in a moment of day-dream." ('My Bit of Britain', 1941.). There is a community museum/landscape interpretation centre at the old town institution.

    FAQs

What is the cheapest fence to install?

The cheapest fence to install is, generally, a pressure-treated pine wooden fence at around £20 per linear foot. This includes the materials and labour costs. Wire fencing is technically cheaper at around £5 per foot, but it’s not a great material to use in homes as it looks unsightly and doesn’t provide any privacy.

What types of garden fencing are available?

There are quite a few different types of garden fencing that are readily available, so you’ll have plenty to choose from. If you’ve got a strict budget, waney edge panel fencing is a good option. It’s made up of horizontal wood strips and is generally the cheapest type of fencing. Another good option is closed feather-edge panels. These are a really strong type of fence, made up of concrete posts and panels of vertical strips of wood. You can also get more decorative types of fencing with combinations of vertical and horizontal wood strips.

Can I attach something to my neighbour’s fence?

There are a number of reasons why disputes can arise between neighbours – all of which can be quite frustrating and challenging. In some cases, this can even cause serious friction and lead to an all-out war. When it comes to the topic of fencing, one of the most common questions that arises is whether or not you can attach something to your neighbour’s fence. If you’re having the same concern, then you’ve come to the right place. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into this to help you make informed decisions moving forward. Let’s take a look!

The short and simple answer to this question is no, you can’t attach anything to your neighbour’s fence. If your neighbour owns the fence and you’ve not obtained any permission to do so, then you’re not allowed to attach anything to the fence. Otherwise, you can get into serious trouble with your neighbour as well as the law. If you want to attach something or have the wall on your side painted using another colour, then there’s the need to get a permission from the owner. And while doing so, make sure you’re provided with a written permission so as to avoid problems later in the future.

Another question that mostly arises is what if your neighbour declines your request, is there anything you can do about it? Well, the answer to this is no, there’s nothing you can do about it unless you’re able to convince your neighbour otherwise. And you should know starting a neighbour war or being spiteful can only make matters worse for you.

Do I need planning permission for fences?

Not if they are under 1 metre high if next to a road or 2 metres high elsewhere. It’s always recommended to check with your neighbours and the local authority if you are unsure. Other restrictions may apply, for example if a fence might impact driver visibility on nearby roads.
