Fencing in Cowes

Trying to find wooden fencing installers in Cowes? Our wooden fencing fitters in Cowes are able to give you the ideal quotations for having wood fencing installed.

Fencing is essential both for residential and business properties for many reasons. It acts as a border for gardens and private land, serving as a measure of privacy or to keep people and animals in or out.

Benefits of wooden fencing include further household protection and visual appeal. With a fence in place, it becomes tougher for burglars to reach your home and garden. Make certain to pick out a design which will look great too, especially if for house purposes.

We're able to provide you with around four wooden fencing installers in your area, who can offer quotes for the work you would like carried out. You'll get a house visit from experts in Cowes who will allow you to select the right design and style for your house prior to completing the installation.

The fitting of a wood fence will take less than one day to undertake, depending on the size of area you'd like protected.

Average Wooden fencing cost in Cowes

The regular cost of a new or replacement fence is approximately £20-£45 per foot, not including removing your existing fence which could cost an extra £5-10 per foot. It will also differ among regions, so it's best to get a few quotes to see what the best price is in your area.

Cowes

Cowes is an English seaport town and civil parish on the Isle of Wight. Cowes is located on the west bank of the estuary of the River Medina, dealing with the smaller town of East Cowes on the east bank. The two towns are connected by the Cowes Floating Bridge, a chain ferry. It is among a handful of remaining chain ferryboats not replaced by a physical bridge. Leland's 19th century verses referred to the towns poetically as 'The two great Cowes that in loud thunder roar, This on the eastern, that the western shore'. Cowes has actually been seen as a home for global private yacht racing since the founding of the Royal Yacht Squadron in 1815. The town gives its name to the world's oldest regular regatta, Cowes Week, which takes place on an annual basis in the first week of August. Later on in the summer season, powerboat races are held. The population was 9663 in the 2001 census, a figure that doubles during the regatta in early August. More recently, the population at the 2011 Census was 10405. Much of the town's architecture is still greatly influenced by the style of ornate building which Prince Albert popularised. Business in both Cowes and East Cowes has constantly centred on the building and style of marine craft and components connected with boat-making, including the early flying boats, and sail-making. Cowes is a gateway town for the Isle of Wight. Tourists to Southampton are served by a high speed catamaran passenger ferryboat from Cowes known as the Red Jet. It is the area where the first hovercraft was tried out. For all of your home developments, make sure to recognize dependable specialists in Cowes to make certain of quality.

    FAQs

Fence ownership: who owns that garden fence?

When it comes to fence ownership and responsibility, this is often a subject of dispute between neighbours and understandably so. Owning a fence comes with a number of responsibilities such as arranging and paying for the maintenance and more. Therefore, if you’re not yet sure who owns the garden fence, then you’d probably want to have that sorted to make sure your property stays protected at all times. In this post, we’re going to give you an insight into some of the rules guiding fence ownership in order to help you make informed decisions. Let’s take a look!

There’s no rule of thumb on whether you own the fence on the right hand or the left hand side of your property. Therefore, if you’ve heard any “rules that states otherwise, you can fling that out the window because not everyone will own the left hand side to their fence. The first way to determine who owns the garden fence or which side of the fence you’re responsible for is simply by looking. Although this is not guaranteed or a definite way to determine ownership, it can go a long way to give you a good idea. As you would have expected, fences are most likely built on the land that belongs to the boundary’s owner with the further edge of the fence making the actual boundary. As a result, you can determine a fence ownership simply by identifying where the frames are.

Also, you can determine fence ownership using the title deeds for an official and accurate answer. A copy should be given alongside your paperwork which is received when purchasing your house.

    How to build a fence?

The best way to build a fence depends on what style it is, as different types have different components. However, fencing made up of posts and panels is pretty common. To put this up, you’ll need to start by measuring out and digging holes for your fence posts. Then you’ll need to fit the panels between them and use concrete to secure the posts in the ground.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
Do I need to dispose of the old fencing myself?

Most responsible contractors will dispose of the old fencing via an approved commercial waste site. Do check that the cost of taking rubbish away is included in the quotes you receive, otherwise you might find you get stung when it comes to paying for the work.
