Wooden decking is an increasingly common choice for creating outdoor seating areas in gardens. Due to the natural beauty of wood, they can be very fashionable areas which you can use year round by installing outside heating and illumination. Wooden decking is frequently installed in locations in front of patio or French doors where they can create a seamless transition between interior and exterior spaces. Wooden decking can come in virtually any size or shape to accommodate any area. Curved designs or large areas linked by pathways can create an attractive effect. Wooden decking is fairly quick to install and causes little disruption, especially in comparison to alternate options like patio or paving. It can even be installed over the top of an existing patio. It is vital however to be certain that your wooden decking is structurally sound and able to take the load of any furniture or plants that you want to use on the decking. There is a selection of varieties of wood that can be used in wooden decking. Normally decking is constructed from hardwood, but there are softwoods available that fulfil the durability specifications. As hardwood decking will demand maintenance, which usually includes annual cleaning and staining for weather proofing, composite woods have become more popular for use in wooden decking because they are more robust and require much less maintenance.
The typical cost of Wooden decking is £1500. Costs can change based upon the materials and the firm hired. The upper price range can be as high as £1725. The material costs are commonly approximately £375

Heriot is a little town in the Moorfoot Hills southeast of Edinburgh, Scotland, within Eildon (part of the Scottish Borders council area, though traditionally in Midlothian). The town consists of some 150 homes, spread over a geographical area of around 50 square miles (130 km2), most of which is moorland. Attached to the remainder of the world mostly through the A7 road, Heriot had a train station from 1849 till the branch line closures instigated by Beeching caused the track to be uplifted in the 1960s. The Scottish Parliament elected, in 2006, to reinstate the train, but without a station at Heriot. The School (as of Sept 2016) has 36 pupils. There are numerous community teams operating in the village including drama groups, WRI, a community choir and also a martial arts club. Places near to Heriot consist of Borthwick, Carcant, Crichton, Fala, Stow of Wedale as well as Innerleithen.

Usually, slipperiness is caused by algae or dirt on top of the deck or terrace. A full cleaning treatment should restore the natural grip of the wood or stone. If slipperiness is a persistent problem, consider installing grip mats in high traffic areas of the deck.
