Highbridge
Highbridge is a small, former market community located on the edge of the Somerset Levels near the mouth of the River Brue. It remains in the County of Somerset, and also is about 20 miles (32.2 kilometres) north east of Taunton, the county town of Somerset. It is no more a market town, the marketplace site is now a housing estate. Highbridge remains in the Area of Sedgemoor, being located approximately 7 miles (11.3 kilometres) north of Bridgwater, the district's administrative centre. Highbridge closely neighbors Burnham-on-Sea, forming part of the mixed parish of Burnham-on-Sea as well as Highbridge and shares a community council with the hotel community. In the 2001 census the population was 5,986. In the 2011 census the population of the community was included in the ward of Highbridge as well as Burnham Marine, which completed 7,555.
