Forsinard
Forsinard is a district in the region of Sutherland in the Highland area of Scotland. It lies on the A897 road in Strath Halladale. It is served by a railway terminal on the Far North Line. The regional hotel shut several years back, yet there is currently a b & b simply across the degree crossing. Forsinard is located in the Flow Country, an area of peat bog which straddles the boundaries of Caithness as well as Sutherland. The 13,000-hectare (33,000-acre) Fosinard estate was bought in 1977 by Basil Baird. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds runs a 154 km2 (38,000-acre) nature reserve as well as a site visitor centre at Forsinard. The Forsinard Flows national nature book draws in a large variety of birds as well as wildlife.
