Blandford Forum
Blandford Forum, generally Blandford, is a market town in the North Dorset area of Dorset, England, sited by the River Stour concerning 13 mi (21 km) northwest of Poole. It was the administrative headquarters of North Dorset District Council until April 2019, when district councils merged to come to be Dorset County Council. Blandford is significant for its Georgian architecture, the result of rebuilding after most of the town was ruined by a fire in 1731. The restoring job was assisted by an Act of Parliament and also a donation by George II, and also the rebuilt community centre-- to styles by regional designers John and William Bastard-- has survived to today day greatly undamaged. Blandford Camp, an army base, is sited on the hills two miles to the north eastern of the community. It is the base of the Royal Corps of Signals, the communications wing of the British Military, and also the website of the Royal Signals Museum. Dorset Region Council estimates that in 2013 the community's civil parish had a population of 10,610.
