Ashington
Ashington is really a town as well as civil parish within Northumberland, England with a populace of around 27,000; it was once a centre of the coal mining business. The town is located some 15 miles (24 km) north of Newcastle upon Tyne west of the A189. The south of the town is bordered by the River Wansbeck. The North Sea seacoast at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea is around 3 miles (5 km) from the town centre.
