Saxmundham
Saxmundham is a little market community in Suffolk, England, set in the valley of the River Fromus concerning 18 miles (29 km) north-east of Ipswich and also 5 miles (8.0 kilometres) west of the coastline at Sizewell. The community is bypassed by the A12. It is served by Saxmundham train station on the East Suffolk Line. Saxmundham Town Council comes under the brand-new East Suffolk District. It was formerly in Suffolk Coastal District. The area electoral ward also has the name Saxmundham. Its population at the 2011 census was 4,913. The town's name allegedly derives from the Old English "Seizmond's Residence". The earliest recorded reference of Saxmundham is in the Domesday Book of 1086 which discusses 3 churches. It has had a market charter considering that at least 1272 and continues the custom to now.
