Highbridge
Highbridge is a tiny, former market town situated on the edge of the Somerset Degrees near the mouth of the River Brue. It remains in the Region of Somerset, as well as is approximately 20 miles (32.2 kilometres) north eastern of Taunton, the county town of Somerset. It is no longer a market community, the market site is now a housing estate. Highbridge is in the District of Sedgemoor, being situated roughly 7 miles (11.3 km) north of Bridgwater, the district's management centre. Highbridge closely neighbors Burnham-on-Sea, forming part of the consolidated parish of Burnham-on-Sea as well as Highbridge and shares a community council with the resort town. In the 2001 census the population was 5,986. In the 2011 census the population of the community was included in the ward of Highbridge and Burnham Marine, which amounted to 7,555.
