Edenbridge
Edenbridge is a community and also civil parish in the Sevenoaks area of Kent, England. Its name derives from Old English Eadhelmsbrigge (meaning "Eadhelm's Bridge"). It is located on the Kent/ Surrey border on the upper floodplain of the River Medway and also provides its name to the latter's tributary, the River Eden. The community has a population of around 9,000. Edenbridge is twinned with Mont-Saint-Aignan in France. The bypass that was integrated in the very early 2000s to alleviate traffic pressure on the old, slim High Street is called Mont St Aignan Way. There are two financial institutions in the community, a post office alongside the church as well as a variety of significant retail chains. Despite being a relatively small town, Edenbridge boasts its very own health center - The Edenbridge War Memorial Hospital. Originally a home health center developed to care for soldiers returning from The First World War, a purpose constructed structure was established to the south of the community in 1931. With an Out Patients Department, Physical rehabilitation centers and a Minor Injuries Unit the hospital is a major part of the fabric of the town. In recent years the health center has been faced with closure lot of times, on each celebration it has been conserved by regional campaigners and townspeople, that see the medical facility as an essential part of the community.
