Wemyss Bay is a town on the coast of the Firth of Clyde in Inverclyde in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. It is in the traditional county of Renfrewshire. It adjoins Skelmorlie, North Ayrshire. The towns have always been in separate counties, separated by the Kelly Burn. Wemyss Bay is the port for ferryboats on the Sea Road to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. Guests from the island can attach to Glasgow by trains, which end in the village at the amazing Wemyss Bay train station, noted for its architectural top qualities and regarded as among Scotland's finest train structures. The port is extremely revealed, so in high winds the ferries must travel up river to Gourock to dock.
