Gorebridge
Gorebridge is a former mining town in Midlothian, Scotland. The village gets its name from the bridge across the River Gore, a tributary of the South Esk. It was the home of Scotland's first gunpowder mill, at the Gore Water, that began running in 1794. Gorebridge has a yearly Gala Day which always takes place on the 3rd Saturday in June. This is much like a town fair, with flights and games. The gala day has a practice of selecting a Community King and also Queen from the primary schools. Gorebridge has 4 primary schools, Gorebridge Primary, Stobhill Key, St Andrews RC Primary as well as Gore Glen Main. Greenhall Senior high school utilized to serve the town yet shut down in 1994.
