About Norfolk Trusted Trader
Norfolk Trusted Trader is a directory of tradespeople in the home improvement sector in Norfolk. Norfolk County Council Trading Standards Service operates the scheme in collaboration with Referenceline.

Norfolk Trusted Trader aims to help consumers in Norfolk make informed choices and help older and vulnerable people to stay safe in their homes.

Before a firm can become a Trusted Trader they must undergo background checks and agree to strict standards as part of the accreditation process. Customers assess the member businesses themselves through Referenceline’s independent survey system. This helps future customers to make a more informed choice of trader.

The traders within the directory are not approved by Norfolk County Council. The information provided is not a warranty about the status of any trader. It is therefore recommended to check the other trade associations that a firm is a part of to get a well-rounded view of the trader.

Trading Standards have assessed every member of the Trusted Trader scheme. However, Trading Standards base the assessment on the information available to them at the time. Members are subject to an annual review and the Council monitors their customer feedback, but a member’s circumstances may change and become unsuitable for the scheme. Trading Standards might only become aware of any changes after a customer has had problems.

Referenceline publish the customer feedback on the scheme website. Norfolk County Council recommends that consumers look for long and consistent track records. As the contract for any work is between the member and the consumer, the customer should make additional enquiries to ensure they are happy with their choice.
