About Electrical Contractors Association
The Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) is the main trade association representing contractors who design, install, inspect, test and maintain electrical equipment and services in the UK. It has three clear aims:

• To provide a comprehensive range of tools and support services to members

• To work with regulatory bodies, government and opinion formers to build a sustainable industry

• To form strategic relationships with electricians to promote the use of Registered Members

ECA provides electrical training courses that are open to ECA Registered Members and non-members. It also has its own Membership Certification Scheme, proving competence and professionalism to consumers so they have confidence in the contractor.

To become a Registered Member of ECA, tradespeople must undergo assessments to make sure that they carry out work to the high standard that ECA expect. ECA also provides the ECA Bond, which covers the cost of completion for the customer if the contractor cannot complete the work if, for example, they cease trading. Tradespeople also have the opportunity to join the Joint Industry Board (JIB) for free, which aims to improve the electrical industry and provides a list of reputable contractors for consumers to search through.

ECA recommends using one of its members for electrical work because ECA vets them through its rigorous technical assessments. They are skilled in all areas and ECA tests them to prove that this is the case. The ECA Guarantee of Work Scheme covers all registered members' work, so electricians will complete the work according to the standards that ECA expect. It is the highest level of protection provided by any organisation representing electricians.
