About CORGI

The Council for Registered Gas Installers, or CORGI, is a voluntary registration scheme for gas installers in the UK. It used to be a legal requirement for gas engineers and companies to be registered with CORGI from 1991 to 2009. Gas engineers are now legally required to be on the Gas Safe Register. Choosing a CORGI-registered professional means that they will hold a certificate of competence under the Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) which demonstrates that they have the appropriate level of competence and experience in particular types of gas work. CORGI also prides itself on its members giving excellent customer service. As well as providing consumers with a list of safe and competent gas workers, CORGI also provides different products such as Homeplan, which offers full heating system and boiler cover. This includes annual servicing and plumbing and electrical cover. Although CORGI is no longer the Great Britain gas scheme registrar, it still seeks to raise awareness about gas safety and provide customers with reliable contractors. It says that the ‘CORGI brand means something – trust, reliability, expertise and quality.’
