About Certass
Certass Limited is a certification body for the running of a Competent Person Scheme. It operates under a Department of Communities and Local Government license. It is also a Green Deal Certification Body under licence from the Department for Energy and Climate Change.

Members of the Certass Competent Person Scheme can self-certify that their installations adhere to current building regulations instead of submitting a building notice to the local authority or using an approved inspector. This saves their customers money as they do not have to pay the local authority to inspect the work or submit an application.

Certass Green Deal members are able to self-certify installations to the requirements of PAS 2030, which is the standard for work under the Green Deal. PAS 2030 intends to improve the energy efficiency of existing buildings.

Companies can also be members of the Certass TrustMark Scheme, which demonstrates their dedication to consumer protection. It means that Certass has inspected their work and deemed that they are competent and provide good service to their customers. Certass TrustMark Scheme approved contractors also offer Insurance Backed Warranties to their customers. This means that customers can still get faults repaired even if the firm ceases to trade during the time of their guarantee.

Certass assesses applicants to schemes in line with specific standards, depending on what scheme they are applying for. Once they accept members, they review their competence every year to check that they are still providing the service that Certass expects. This includes inspecting a sample of the member’s work and seeing whether it is compliant with building regulations. Customers can feel confident that a Certass member has been strictly assessed to ensure they have the skills needed to complete the work that they do.
