It is located at the confluence of the rivers Ury and Don, approximately 16 miles (26 km) north west of Aberdeen. In the middle of the 'square', as it is known in the area, is the Inverurie and District War Memorial, topped by a lone Gordon Highlander looking out over the town. The primary shopping areas include the Market Place and West High Street, which branch off from the centre towards the more residential part of the town. Over the last few years, Inverurie has actually seen a progressing variety of Aberdeen commuters going to live there, making it considered as 'the fastest growing town in Great Britain'. The town has a range of transportation links adding to its attraction as a place in which to commute from, being situated on the A96 road and served by Inverurie railway station on the Aberdeen to Inverness Line.
