Torrington
Great Torrington (often abbreviated to Torrington, though the villages of Little Torrington and also Black Torrington are located in the same area) is a tiny market town in the north of Devon, England. Parts of it are sited above ground with high fall to the River Torridge below, with the lower-lying parts of the community vulnerable to periodic flooding. Torrington remains in the centre of Tarka Country, a landscape recorded by Henry Williamson in his novel Tarka the Otter in 1927. Great Torrington has among one of the most energetic offering areas in the United Kingdom. In July 2019, Great Torrington was reported to be the healthiest location to stay in Britain. Researchers from the College of Liverpool found that the area had reduced levels of contamination, great access to green room and also health services, together with few retail electrical outlets.
