Sturminster Newton
Sturminster Newton is a community as well as civil parish in the Blackmore Vale location of Dorset, England. It is located on a reduced limestone ridge in a meander of the River Stour. The town is at the centre of a big milk agriculture region, around which the town's economic climate is developed. The larger part of the community (Sturminster) rests on the north side of the river, as well as consists of most stores and services, whilst to the south is the smaller sized Newton. In between these two locations is a vast flood plain. The town was the residence of poet and also author William Barnes, and, for part of his life, Thomas Hardy. The town has 43 stores, a key and also high school, and a college and also college catering for children with special educational needs. In the 2011 census the community's civil church had a population of 4,945. A market is kept in the community on Mondays. One of the biggest cattle markets in England used to be held below, however it was closed in 1998 and now in its place stands a housing estate as well as a 300-seat community arts centre called The Exchange. The community is part of the historical West Country Carnival circuit.
