Alcester
Alcester is a market town and also civil parish of Roman beginning at the junction of the River Alne and River Arrowhead in Warwickshire, England, approximately 8 miles (13 kilometres) west of Stratford-upon-Avon, as well as 8 miles south of Redditch, near the Worcestershire boundary. The 2011 demographics recorded a population of 6,273. Today the town includes architecture from the Middle ages, Tudor, Georgian, Victorian and 20th century. The oldest residence seems The Old Malthouse at the edge of Church Street and also Malt Mill Lane, which most likely dates from about 1500. The clock on St Nicholas Church (Grade 2 *) remains in an uncommon position on the south-west corner of the 14th-century tower, making it noticeable from the High Street. The church also houses the burial place of Fulke Greville, grandpa of Fulke Greville, 1st Baron Brooke. The church's Georgian nave with Doric columns and plastered ceiling is thought to have been made by Francis Smith of Warwick, manager of its reconstruct by Woodward bros of Chipping Camden in 1729.
