North Berwick
North Berwick is a seaside community and also previous royal burgh in East Lothian, Scotland. It is positioned on the south shore of the Firth of Forth, approximately 20 miles (32 kilometres) east-northeast of Edinburgh. North Berwick became a classy vacation resort in the 19th century as a result of its 2 sandy bays, the East (or Milsey) Bay and the West Bay, and also continues to bring in holidaymakers. Golf links at the ends of each bay are open to site visitors. The dimension as well as population of the community stayed fairly consistent till the 1970s, whereupon housebuilding began in earnest around the perimeter of the community, first to the south (1950s-- 70s), after that a collection of significant growths to the west (1980s-present) along the line of the train. There is talk of more growths focussing on "budget-friendly housing" on the south side of the community. While the population may not have genuinely "took off", home costs have. North Berwick constantly shows up at the top of national residence price surveys, and like-for-like rates are comparable to Edinburgh. North Berwick was noted as the most pricey seaside community in Scotland in 2006, and was second to St. Andrews in 2009.
