Smoke alarms are essential for every household. Every year, the Fire and Rescue Service go to more than 600,000 fires which lead to more than 800 deaths. These incidents could be prevented by having smoke alarms installed in each residence or business premises. Smoke alarms are self-contained devices that detect a fire and sound an alarm. They ought to be fitted to the ceiling, although in certain properties you may see them fitted at the top of a wall. They are able to detect fires in their early stages, giving you time to react to a fire. You can find different sorts of smoke alarms and they can be battery-powered or wired up to the mains electricity. Alarms that are powered by the mains are believed to be safer as you do not need to worry about changing the batteries when they run out. Providing you don’t have a power cut, the smoke alarm should detect fires and keep you and your family safe. An electrician can help you set up a smoke alarm and connect it to your mains power.
