Lairg
Lairg is a village and also parish in Sutherland, Scotland. It has a population of 891 and is at the south-eastern end of Loch Shin. Lairg is uncommon in the northern Highlands, otherwise one-of-a-kind, in being a big settlement that is out the coast. One of the reasons that Lairg is somewhat larger than various other non-coastal Highland villages is its central place within the county of Sutherland. Having 4 roadways which satisfy in the town, it used to be known as "The Crossroads of the North". In the 19th century, it was provided with a train station, on what is now the Far North Line.
