Smoke alarms are crucial for every household. Every year, the Fire and Rescue Service go to over 600,000 fires which lead to more than 800 deaths. These incidents could be prevented by getting smoke alarms placed in every home or business premises. Smoke alarms are self-contained devices that detect a fire and sound an alarm. They should be fitted to the ceiling, although in some properties you may see them fitted near the top of a wall. They are able to detect fires in their early stages, giving you time to react to a fire. You can find different varieties of smoke alarms and they can be battery-powered or wired to the mains electricity. Alarms that are powered by the mains are believed to be safer as you don’t have to be concerned about replacing the batteries when they run out. As long as you do not have a power cut, the smoke alarm should detect fires and keep you and your household safe. An electrician will help you install a smoke alarm and connect it to your mains power.
