Faversham

Faversham is a market town and civil parish in the Swale area of Kent, England. The town is situated 48 miles from London and 10 miles from Canterbury. According to the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of around 19316, increasing by 1606 from the 2001 Census. It sits next to the Swale, a strip of sea that divides mainland Kent from the Isle of Sheppey in the Thames Estuary. It is next to the A2, which passes through an ancient British trackway used by the Romans and the Anglo-Saxons, known as Watling Street. The town's name is a mix of Latin and Old English, which translates to mean 'the metal-worker's village'. Faversham has actually had a settlement from before Roman times, and archaeology has indicated that a Roman theatre was located in the town. Gradually, the town emerged as an essential seaport and centre for brewing. The Shepherd Neame Brewery, established in 1698, continues to have a significant role in the local economy as a significant employer. In between the 17th and the start of the 20th century, the town was the centre of the dynamites sector, which deteriorated after an accident in 1916 killed more than 100 employees. This decrease happened simultaneously to the re-emergence of the town's freight industry, meaning that it had merely a light impact on the economy. There countless landmarks to be seen in the town, with churches which include St. Mary of Charity, Faversham Parish Church, the Maison Dieu and Faversham Recreation Ground. Being present for over 900 years, the market continues to be based in the town centre. For all of your home upgrades, make sure to make use of trusted professionals in Faversham to make certain of qual

FAQs

How big is a 4 yard skip?

Generally, 4-yard skips are basically designed for small clean or clear out projects or residential use. If you want to carry out a small renovation task or to clear out your home, you simply can not ignore the disposal of your unwanted waste. You’ll save yourself some time, money and potential accidents by hiring a 4-yard skip that will do the job effectively. We are all aware how time consuming it is making several trips to the local waste disposal centre.

When talking about the size of a 4-yard skip, it runs beyond its capacity. Skips of small sizes can be easily accommodated in not too large spaces which can be in the garden or driveway which saves you the stress and money of having to acquire skip hire permits.

If you’d like to know the the size of a 4 yard skip in metres, we’ve got you fully covered for both imperial and metric! The answer is provided below:

Imperial - Width 4’3, Height 3’2

Metric - Width 1.29m, Height 0.972m

It is, however, important to take note that when hiring a skip the measurement might be a bit tricky. The ‘4 yard’ term implies the capacity of the skip and not the length. The actual length of a 4 yard skip is only 6 feet or 2 yards. As a result, before you hire a skip, there’s the need to be clear as to the measurement you’re looking for. Otherwise, you might end up hiring the wrong skip and having to get another. Not good for your pocket, right? Well, that’s why we’ve provided this answer to help you in the best possible way! Can you put paint in a skip?

There are a wide range of household rubbish and wastes you can put in a skip. But unfortunately though, paint cans and leftover paints isn’t one. Furthermore, not only is a liquid paint restricted from skips and landfills, but they are also banned by the council. Frustratingly, because it’s hazardous to the environment and blockages it can create in the pipe, pouring paint right down the drain is never an option as well. So what then is the best way to get rid of your leftover paint? Surprisingly, you have quite a number of options which we’ll share with you.

• Is the paint unused and unopen? For unopened paints, you can simply return them back to the seller either for an exchange or for a refund. Obviously, this will require a receipt and if unavailable, then you might want to consider the other options below.

• Is it just little paint leftover? Since it has been specifically banned from skips and it’s just a small amount of paint, you can get a bit creative with the disposal method. Simply get a cardboard or other papers, paint it with the remaining paint and dry it out. Once dried, you can then dispose the cardboard or paper alongside other permitted wastes in the skip.

• Is it a large amount of paint? For large amounts, you can contact some of your friends or family who might need it to get the paints off your hands. If you are unable to dispose any or all, there are online platforms like Freegle or Freecycle where there are people willing and ready to get leftover paints in large quantities.

• Is it unusable? If positive, then the giveaway option is completely neutralized. The best bet here is to leave your paint out to dry if it has gone past its usable days, then take it to a household waste recycling centre.

What can you put in a skip?

A skip is a very convenient and great means of disposing the unwanted waste and rubbish in your home. When you kick start your home or garden clear out or clean, you’d discover you have a wide range of wastes to get rid of. However before the commencement of such a task, it is essential to understand that there are particular wastes that are not allowed to be put inside a skip for several reasons by the relevant authorities. There are a handful of regulations that determines what goes into a skip and what cannot. And somewhat interestingly, this may differ depending on the skip company you recruit.

With the presence of an array of skip hire companies in the market today, there are several that can allow almost all types of wastes in the skip. However, some of the most common wastes that can be placed inside a skip includes the following:

• Broken furniture pieces

• Plastics ( because they can be easily recycled)

• Solidified paints

• Furnishings and non electrical fittingd

• Uncontaminated soil

• Cardboard and plastic packaging items

• Metal

• Branches and leaves

• Bricks, wood and rubble

It is advisable to ask your skip hire company what you can put in the skip and what you’re not allowed to put in the skip before moving forward. The guidelines can vary from a company to the other and as a result, there is the need to conduct a proper consultation with a skip hire company to help erase or confirm the fears you might have about your unwanted waste or rubbish. This is to ensure the company selected perfectly matches your proper waste disposal needs. When you’re able to select a reliable skip hire company, all your unwanted waste disposal worries would be completely obliterated. Click here to learn more about skips.
