Dinas Powys
Dinas Powys is a large village and also a community in the Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales which takes its name from the old Welsh for fortress, (Dinas) as well as pagus,(Powys) the Latin word for pagan. The literal significance, as a result, being, "Pagan Stronghold", referring to Dinas Powys hillfort that dates from the Iron Age. The village is 5.6 miles (9.0 kilometres) south-west of the centre of Cardiff as well as comfortably positioned on the A4055 Cardiff to Barry main road. It is typically considered as a positive dorm town for Cardiff's business as well as sector travelers since the city has broadened with extensive growth around the Cardiff Bay area. Despite the addition of numerous housing developments over the past fifty years, the old town centre of Dinas Powys still has a mostly pristine as well as practically country feel, retaining a large town common as well as a standard town centre full with a post office as well as a variety of tiny independent stores, hostelries, restaurants as well as neighborhood facilities. On top of that there are stores, garages, little grocery stores, Pharmacy and a Veterinarians on the primary Cardiff Road and also a selection of shops on the Murch estate including a post office. The Health Centre including the doctors and Murch drug store relocated in April 2017 to the brand-new Clinical centre on top of Murch Road, on the site of the old St Cyres, Dinas Powys site. According to current electoral rolls the population is in the area of 8,800. This establishes the village as the 5th biggest settlement in the Vale of Glamorgan and larger than several legal communities in the UK.
