Source: Numbers calculated based on the search volumes in major search enginesBoncath is a village, community and postal district in north Pembrokeshire, Wales. It is located about five miles (8 km) west of Newcastle Emlyn. The village can be found at a crossroad linking the close by settlements of Newchapel (Capelnewydd), Eglwyswrw, Blaenffos and Bwlchygroes. Formerly a hamlet formed around an inn, the village developed following the introduction of the railway in 1885. Boncath railway station, opened in September 1886, was a two-platform stop in between Crymmych Arms and Kilgerran Halt on the Whitland and Cardigan Railway, called 'Cardi Bach'. The line was closed resulting from the 1963 Beeching Axe and the station building was changed into private property. The village once included 3 tailors, a cobbler and also a dressmaker, and in 2000 a new Community Hall was completed. Cilwendeg House, described as one of the most important mansions in Pembrokeshire, dates back to the late 18th century and was built on the site of a former property dating back to the 1600s. One of several attributes of the property is the Grade 2 listed Shell House, built in the late 1820s. The 21 bedroom mansion was a care home from 1952 to 2010. Currently, the village has a permanent population of 700 residents. The town is served by a regular bus service. The Boncath Inn is located in the centre of the village along with a village shop and Post Office, as well as a variety of smaller companies. The Welsh Independent Chapel at Fachendre (Fach-hendre), established in 1879, can be found to the south east of the village and is a listed building. The Community Hall, a registered charity, provides a space that can be used for events in the local area. Cilwendeg hosted the 2013 Urdd Eisteddfod. For all your property upgrades, make certain that you employ vetted professionals in Boncath to make sure you get the top quality service.

Strong winds can cause extensive damage to unprotected rooftops and in fact tiles act as very suitable protection. The extra weight they provide is great at countering high wind loads and if anything is damaged during severe weather, replacing tiles is straight forward for professional roofers. When you compare this to lightweight materials there’s a significant difference. If you wish to have extra protection, experts recommended having sarking fitted.
Do You Need Felt Under Roof Tiles?
Before now, roofing felt were mainly incorporated to serve as a temporary waterproof roof on a building which would later on be changed for the permanent solid tiles or slate roof. This is due to the fact that rebuilding a roof can be time consuming taking a few number of days, the roofing felt would be used to protect the structure as well as the property it contains by acting as a barrier between the house and the harsh elements such as rain, wind, snow, sleet and more, while also providing minimal insulation until the structure is complete.
However those are in the olden days, in recent times, roofing felt ( also referred to as breathable roofing membrane or breathable felt) is now being used to create a safe and waterproof roof which is long lasting and will protect your house, properties as well as other outbuildings for a long period of time while also complying with the Building Regulations. So to answer the question - yes, you’re going to need felt under roof tiles as it has been made mandatory by building regulations.
Now let’s take a look at the different functions served by felt.
✓ You’ll need felt under roof tiles to prevent the roof space from being exposed.
✓ Roofing felt protects homes where a roof has not yet been installed to serve as a temporary protective layer against the elements.
✓ Roofing felt is particularly crucial for modern homes which are constructed to be more energy efficient and work to hold warm air from escaping the house. This is great to reduce your heating bills while also keeping both you and your loved ones cosy all throughout the year.
✓ Overall, building regulations imply that an underlay underneath the slate or tiles is now a compulsory requirement.
You should inspect your roof at least once a year, to check there are no leaks or infestations. It’s best to do this just after it has rained, so leaks are as obvious as possible. You may find over a period of time there is a build up of moss on the roof, this should be cleaned so rain water has a clear path to the guttering.
Roof tiles should be replaced as soon as possible to ensure that your roof stays waterproof. Use crawl boards when replacing them to avoid damaging other tiles, if not ask a qualified roofer to carry out the work, particularly if the tiles are higher up.
